LANAP Protocol

Introducing the LANAP® Protocol

Over 50% of American adults suffer from gum disease – an infection below the gum line.  Gum disease causes several health problems including heart disease, stroke, diabetes and pre-term babies. Unfortunately, only a small percentage of these adults get the treatment they need. Mainly due to gum disease treatments involve cutting the gum tissue or extracting the teeth.

Gum Disease Triggers Fear and Loss of Self-Confidence

Gum disease isn’t widely talked about but can have a big impact on your life.  Patients suffering from gum disease often feel less self-confident and have a fear of losing their teeth.  Schiff & Moniz is certified in a unique laser gum disease treatment...the LANAP protocol.

What is the LANAP protocol?

The LANAP® protocol uses a special dental laser called the “PerioLase® MVP-7™”. This cutting-edge laser is a tiny fiber about the width of three human hairs that is inserted between the gum tissue and teeth. It targets and destroys bacteria deep within the pockets of the gums without affecting any of the surrounding healthy tissue.

There is No Downtime

Patients typically see immediate results including less bleeding when brushing and lessening of bad breath due to of the gentle nature of the procedure.  Because the procedure is minimally invasive, after a LANAP® treatment, you can drive your car, go back to work, or do anything else you like.
